This website is dedicated to my parents Eva and Donie Finucane who are pictured here with their 5 children at their 40th wedding anniversary which took place in Listowel in November 1998.

I have called my site  www.drumeen.com
after the 106 acre farm of land where my Mother was born in 1935. Drumeen is located in Clonlara, Co.Clare and was the home of my Mother's great grandparents, Tadgh Ryan and his wife Margaret Leahy.

Tadgh and Margaret moved their family from the highlands of Loughisle in Tipperary to the lowlands of Drumeen in Clare in 1908 for health reasons. Tadgh died in Jan 1908 so I am not sure if he got as far as Drumeen or not. One of their sons was Patrick Ryan and he followed my great grandmother Sarah Madden to the U.S.A. in 1910/11. He found Sarah in Philadelphia and they got married there.

Patrick and Sarah had their first child, Mary Ryan (my grandmother) in 1913 in Philadelphia and they returned to Ireland shortly afterwards. Their second child, Peg Ryan was born in 1914 in Ballyhane, Birdhill, Co. Tipperary.
